Introduction

As I continued contributing translations, I encountered one of the most important challenges of the project: ensuring translation accuracy while maintaining consistency with existing WordPress terminology.

Development

Some strings included technical concepts that did not have an obvious direct translation into Spanish. I realized that simply translating word by word could create confusion for users.

To solve this problem, I reviewed existing approved translations and consulted the WordPress translation guidelines. This helped me understand the preferred terminology used throughout the platform.

Another challenge was understanding the context of certain phrases. In some cases, the same English word could have different meanings depending on where it appeared in WordPress. Taking time to analyze the context improved the quality of my translations.

Conclusion

This challenge taught me the importance of attention to detail and consistency when contributing to open-source projects. I learned that quality is just as important as quantity, especially when translations affect thousands of users.
