Introduction and Starting Point

Introduction

For my WP Credits project, I decided to contribute to the WordPress Polyglots Team. I chose this area because I wanted to participate in an open-source project and help make WordPress more accessible to Spanish-speaking users around the world.

Before starting, I had some basic knowledge of WordPress as a user, but I had never contributed to an open-source project. I was curious to learn how volunteers collaborate and how translations are managed within WordPress.

Development

The first step was creating my WordPress.org account and exploring the different contribution teams available. After reviewing several options, I selected the Polyglots Team because translation allows contributors to make a meaningful impact without requiring advanced programming skills.

I also reviewed introductory materials about WordPress contributions and learned about the importance of localization and translation in a global project.

Conclusion

At this stage, I learned that WordPress is supported by a large community of contributors from around the world. My next step will be accessing the translation platform and becoming familiar with the contribution process.
